Orjiugo is a storyteller and mother who believes children deserve stories that remind them of who they already are, and who they can become.
Born in Lagos, shaped by London, and now raising her children in the Washington, DC area, she writes with wonder, warmth, and the quiet conviction that light matters. Her stories are rooted in courage, kindness, curiosity, and the everyday magic children carry before other stories about them form.
When she isn’t raising two extraordinary children or writing, she spends her days in the business of human behavior, helping solve human problems.
Olie and His Light is her first children’s book. Her second is already in the pipeline.
This is a bedtime story that begins when Olie spots a mysterious light outside his window. His mother takes him on a gentle journey of discovery — through acts of kindness, moments of bravery, and the quiet magic of everyday love. Along the way, Olie learns that light is not just something that shines in the dark. It shines from deep within. And the more he lets it out, the brighter the world becomes.
